Volunteers in care homes

De Frivilliges Hus has developed a digital toolkit designed to help care homes build strong and meaningful collaborations with volunteers. I helped bring the content to life through five short animated films covering topics such as welcoming new volunteers, creating a framework for good collaboration, and understanding what motivates different types of volunteers.

Welcoming new volunteers

A good start can make all the difference. This film follows Marianne as she welcomes a new volunteer and shows how clear expectations, a thoughtful introduction and ongoing support can lay the foundation for a positive and lasting collaboration.

Welcome as a new volunteer

What does it mean to be a volunteer at a care home? This film introduces new volunteers to their role, what they can expect, and how they can contribute to meaningful moments and a stronger sense of community for residents.

Creating a framework for good collaboration

Good collaboration with volunteers needs the right framework. This film explores how clear structures, communication and coordination can help volunteers and staff work together and make volunteering a natural part of everyday life at the care home.

What motivates volunteers?

People volunteer for many different reasons. Through five different volunteer profiles, this film explores what motivates people to get involved and how understanding those motivations can help care homes recruit, support and retain volunteers.
